ومن جانبه، أعرب سمو الشيخ خالد بن حمد آل خليفة عن سعادته الكبيرة بثقة الاتحاد الدولي في منحه مملكة البحرين استضافة هذا الحدث الدولي، مؤكدا سموه أن المملكة استطاعت أن تشق طريق النجاح في هذه الرياضة، من خلال الرعاية والدعم الذي يحظى به القطاع الرياضي من لدن حضرة صاحب الجلالة الملك حمد بن عيسى آل خليفة عاهل البلاد المفدى حفظه الله ورعاه، والذي وجه نحو المضي قدما للنهوض بقطاع الشباب والرياضة، والذي ترجمها الجهود الكبيرة التي تبذلها الحكومة الرشيدة برئاسة صاحب السمو الملكي الأمير خليفة بن سلمان آل خليفة رئيس الوزراء الموقر وصاحب السمو الملكي الأمير سلمان بن حمد آل خليفة ولي العهد نائب القائد الأعلى النائب الاول لرئيس مجلس الوزراء، في تنفيذها للمشاريع الحيوية الداعمة للبنية التحتية لهذا القطاع، وكذلك الجهود الواضحة لسمو الشيخ ناصر بن حمد آل خليفة ممثل جلالة الملك للأعمال الخيرية وشؤون الشباب رئيس المجلس الأعلى للشباب والرياضة رئيس اللجنة الأولمبية البحرينية، عبر الخطط والبرامج التطويرية الهادفة لمواصلة البناء والتنمية بالرياضة البحرينية، والذي كان له الأثر في منح البحرين حق استضافة هذا الحدث، والذي يعكس ما وصلت إليه رياضة فنون القتال المختلطة البحرينية من انتشار عالمي واسع في وقت قياسي، والتي تحقق من خلالها العديد من النتائج المشرفة والإنجازات للرياضة البحرينية، والذي ساهم في التعريف بالبحرين كدولة متطورة في القطاع الرياضي لاسيما في هذه الرياضة، وكان له الفضل في دعم موقعها في هذه الرياضة العالمية.

 

وأكد سموه الشيخ خالد بن حمد آل خليفة قدرة البحرين على إبراز وإنجاح هذا الحدث، بفضل ما تتمتع به من مقومات تمنحها التميز في استضافة وتنظيم مختلف البطولات العالمية، مستشهدا سموه بما حققته المملكة من نجاحات واسعة من خلال استضافتها للعديد من المناسبات والبطولات الرياضية الدولية، أبرزها استضافتها السنوية لجائزة البحرين الكبرى لسباقات الفورمولا واحد منذ عام 2004، والتي أصبحت من خلالها مقصدا رياضيا وسياحيا للعالم، والذي كان له الأثر الإيجابي على دعم الاقتصاد الوطني.he International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) officially granted the Kingdom of Bahrain the right to host the fourth edition of the IMMAF World Championships of Amateur MMA, which will be held in November this year.

This decision translates the efforts of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Honourary President of Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Association, Founder of Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa Mixed Martial Arts Organization (KHK MMA), to strengthen the Kingdom of Bahrain’s position in this sport, globally.

 

Bahrain will be the first Asian and Arab country to host this championship, as there was no Asian or Middle Eastern country that held an event for the IMMAF, which confirms the strong presence of the Kingdom at the level of this sport, supporting the preparation of Bahraini MMA and strengthening it on the global map.

 

The decision came during a meeting between HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Mr. Kerrith Brown, IMMAF President and Mr. Densign White, IMMAF CEO, on the sidelines of the World Championships of the Amateur MMA organized in Las Vegas in July 2015, where His Highness looked to have Bahrain cooperate and collaborate to host IMMAF events and activities.

 

For his part, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa expressed his joy with the IMMAF for the trust in Bahrain to host this international event, stressing that the Kingdom has managed to pave it’s way to success in this sport, through the support and care given by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, ruler of the country, May God Protect Him; the wise government led by His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister; His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, in implementing vital plans that support the infrastructure of this sector, as well as the efforts of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, through implementing development programmes and plans aimed to enhance Bahraini sports, and which had a success in Bahrain receiving the permission to host this event, reflecting on the development and wide reach of Bahraini MMA in record time.

 

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa stressed that Bahrain is capable of hosting a successful event, thanks to its excellence in hosting various world championships, citing the successful events, championships and occasions held in the Kingdom, most notably the annual Formula One race since 2004 which turned the Kingdom into a popular destination for athletes and tourism, and had a positive impact on the national economy.

 

First Preparatory Meeting

President of Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Assocation, Mr. Khalid Abdulaziz Al Khayat and Director of the Media Office of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Mr. Omar Abdulaziz Bu Kamal, held a preparatory meeting with the President of the International Federation, Mr. Kerrith Brown, and CEO of the International Federation, Mr. Densign White, which preceded the International Federation’s final decision to grant Bahrain the right of hosting and organizing the World Championships, in the coming month of November. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the second edition of the European Open Championships of Amateur Mixed Martial Arts hosted by the Czech capital Prague from November 22nd -26th, in the presence of Mr. Waleed Sayyar, Secretary of BMMAA and Mr. Mohamed Mashallah, Head of external media and events at the Media Office of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

 

Firstly, Al Khayat conveyed the greetings of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa to the President and members of IMMAF, including His Highness’ gratitude and appreciation of the International Federation for granting Bahrain the confidence of hosting and organizing the amateur championships.

 

Afterwards, Al Khayat and Bu Kamal presented the preparations to be conducted by the Federation in collaboration with the Media Office, starting from the beginning of this year until the date of the championship. These include logistical, administrative and media preparations. The President and members of the International Federation expressed their admiration at the detailed explanation of the preparations for hosting this championship, considering the Kingdom of Bahrain to be the most prominent international station that could host this championship, simultaneously affirming their confidence in the efforts of the Federation and the Media Office to make this event successful.
